THIS
IS ASSIGNMENT 22
This essay is the third of three short/long papers. For these three papers, you must do the "long" (2 - 3 pages) version of one of the three and the "short" (2 paragraphs) version for the other two. Which papers you do "long" and which you do "short," however, is up to you. There is also an extra-credit version that requires watching both films
The specific instructions for the "short" and extra-credit version appear towards the end.
The author of The Godfather Effect argues that the films' appeal is to be found in the ways in which the films offered the antidote of a nostalgically remembered past for an audience who found their assimilated suburban lives lacking in "authenticity" and their work lives as dead-end and without real benefits or a future.
Using specific evidence from either The Godfather or Godfather Part II, demonstrate the accuracy (or inaccuracy) of the The Godfather Effect's argument. |
