THIS
IS ASSIGNMENT 19
This essay is the second of three short/long papers. For these three papers, you must do the "long" (2 - 3 pages) version of one of the three and the "short" (2 paragraphs) version for the other two. Which papers you do "long" and which you do "short," however, is up to you.
The specific instructions for the "short version" appear towards the end.
The author of American Psychosis argues that (p.45) "Ken Kessey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. . .immediately developed cult status among opponents of state hospitals. . .Kessey portrayed mental patients as fundamentally sane and implied that if they were simply allowed to leave they hospital, they would live happily ever after."
Using specific evidence from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, demonstrate the accuracy (or inaccuracy) of the argument in American Psychosis. |
