Greetings students!

I hope that, by taking this course, you will gain more knowledge in criminal justice, social research, and computers. I hope also that you will find it pleasurable! Computers are today related to our everyday lives and you may rarely encounter someone who is indifferent to them. As such, they are extensively used in social research, especially in conjunction with various statistical software (such as: SPSS/PASW, SAS, STATA, R, etc.) that help us analyze data and create detailed reports about criminal justice issues.

This is the area where I will post announcements for the course. This is our course blog. At the bottom of every post you'll have the option of adding a comment. Please do so whenever you are unclear about a topic or point. You can also use the Discussion Board forum, or the blog inside the Blog-Podcast area in the left blue navigation panel.

We will be using the lab in room 436T also known as the Graduate Computer Lab.

Your first assignment will be reading (more like STUDYING) the Syllabus; the second will be taking the Learning Sensory Test (Assignments --> Surveys Folder -->  Learning Sensory Test --> OK). The Sensory Test due date is by the second class and I want everyone to take this test. There are no points awarded for it, but remember: You have only one chance to make a first impression (regarding seriousness and responsibility before a task)! There is also a folder with a few links where you can find out how best you can learn. This folder is called Other Learning Styles. If you want to communicate with me before reading the Syllabus, please consult the "Contact Me" link on top of this page.

Enjoy the course!
