Answer the following questions:

1) Use the author's discussion of events in the Moho region after the fall of the Incan empire as evidence (in a cl/ev/wa paragraph) for the larger pointabout the Inkan's "despotic interventions" in the lives of other groups.

2) What religious punishment did the Inca impose upon groups who did not pay their promised tribute to the Empire? [Answer requires 1 sentence. Worth 10 pts]

3) The Checas were one of many native groups that sided with the Spanish against the Incan Empire.  What was the origin of the Checas' grievance against the Incan empire? [Answer requires 1 sentence. Worth 10 pts]

4) Marriage served a similiar purpose for Spanish conquistadors and Incan rulers who conquered neighboring groups.  Explain how in your own words. [Answer requires 3 sentences. Worth 10 pts]

5) The author argues (p.307) that "tribute was the cement of empire." Was the tribute that subjugated groups paid to the Incan empire always--or even primarily--material goods and wealth?  Give examples to support your answer [Answer requires 3 sentences. Worth 10 pts]

6) The author on p. 288 writes "A glance at the Incan and Aztec realms in about 1492 explains how so dramatic a debacle was possible." Thinking about all of the reading (pp. 286-309) what factors about the Aztec and Incan realms allowed--according to the author--for their rapid collapse at the hands of the much smaller army of Spanish conquistadors?

Your answer should take the form of two claim/evidence/warrant paragraphs and have at least 3 pieces of evidence from the reading.
