PART 1 OF 2: Questions on G-Men

1) What was the most significant social response to the perceived failure of the government to respond crime in the 1920s.

Following the familiar claim/evidence/warrant pattern, use the 24 August 1931 rally in Madison Square Park as evidence for your answer. Be sure your warrant explains HOW this rally symbolizes the social response?

2) Why did President Hoover NOT respond to calls for a stronger federal response to crime? Be specific in you answer. 

3) What was the consequence of Hoover's inaction on popular culture depiction of crime?

4) How might the 1908 origins of the FBI leave some politicians suspicious of the Bureau?

5) The author argues that between 1908 and 1924, the FBI engaged in pursuits that can be called "symbolic politics." Explain what the author means and provide a specific examples from the text. Follow the Claim/Evidence/Warrant format.
