1) According to Beckett, have sudden increases in crime coverage in the news come from (A) increase in crime rates or (b) politcians' efforts to increase crime stories. Be sure to use your own language in your response and TO PROVIDE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES to support your answer.

2) The author describes two different frames from two different time periods for journalistic accounts of cocaine usage: the "recovery" frame and the "siege" frame. Write the lead paragraph from a hypothetical news story from each period that adopts the appropriate "frame."

3) How and why do ratings incrase the likelihood of news media covering a crime story?
